                                     PRELIMINARY TASK EVALUATION

FRONT PAGE

My main image is a mid shot of a student painting, I used this picture because I wanted to represent Acland Burghley as an arts college, I also used it because I thought the way of putting the strap line over the canvas would show creativity.  I used a sky blue background fading into white, I think it makes it look appealing to younger students.

I called my school magazine the Burghley Times, I thought it was quite snappy, the use of times at the end gives the idea that it is professional and informative because newspapers and other magazines use it. I used green ,red and yellow as the colours for my masthead I chose these colours because I thought they would be representative of the 3 blocks in Burghley, making students feel they can relate to magazine. The “TIMES” is in a different font to the “BURGHLEY” ,I used a more classic font similar to the font of newspapers.

The strapline says “pictures of year 13 final pieces inside!” , I put it in black bold writing to stand out amongst the other texts, the text is layered over the canvas the student is about to paint on to stand , I could have made it  look like he had painted it if I had chosen the appropriate font. I used various lures to attract attention like “free ticket for the dance show inside”, I thought this will be very attractive to an Acland Burghley student firstly because its free and being a student that’s a big plus, also the idea that it is for the Burghley dance show gives them the feeling that they should buy the magazine because they don’t want to miss out on the dance show. Other lures include “Black History monthe 8 page special” this shows Acland Burghley is multicultural.

At the bottom I added the Acland Burghley website, this is a way of promoting school and allowing students to be interactive, I also added the logo at the bottom as it has become and icon of the school.  

CONTENTS PAGE

Inside the contents page I included a list of all the features ,I also did the blue to white fade. At the bottom I added pictures of Burghley students art work, I put those pictures in relation to the main feature, which was I pictures of year 13’s artwork.
